Kiana ‘rookz’ Eastmond est une productrice de musique et une entrepreneure primée à cinq reprises, et la fondatrice de Sandbox Studios, espace de création accessible à moindre coût, qui accompagne et encourage des artistes du Canada. Le nom du studio, qui signifie bac à sable en anglais, fait écho à l’esprit libre, créatif, curieux et expressif des enfants. Depuis dix ans, l’entreprise a ouvert plus de cinq studios en Amérique du Nord et collaboré avec des marques et des personnalités en vue, tout en contribuant au développement des communautés locales. Tout au long de sa croissance, Sandbox Studios a mis le cap sur un objectif, celui d’élargir les perspectives des artistes racisés. En 2012, Kiana, qui accompagne en tournée des artistes dont elle est l’agente, constate qu’il manque au Canada des infrastructures d’accompagnement dédiées aux acteurs de l’art urbain et décide de créer Sandbox Studios. Consultante en développement d’entreprise dans l’industrie de la musique, Kiana veille à ce que sa société évolue avec son temps, sur la voie de l’innovation.
