Indigenous Women Entrepreneurs

While Indigenous people report lower rates of entrepreneurship than the Canadian average, Indigenous women are more likely than other women to pursue entrepreneurial enterprises particularly when self-employment is considered. Thus, issues around definitions of entrepreneurship remain important for Indigenous women entrepreneurs, as the framing of activities which could be considered entrepreneurship have an impact on which activities are counted and supported by policy and training opportunities.

Led by the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business, the Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub is providing analysis on extensive data on women indigenous entrepreneurs in Canada.
