Claire McLoughlin

Claire McLoughlin is the co-owner and co-founder of Friendly Composting, a weekly compost collection service in Kamloops, British Columbia. Along with her co-founder Katie Forsyth, Claire is on a mission to promote sustainability and tackle food waste in Kamloops. Friendly Composting has diverted over 815,000 pounds of food waste from landfills and they have avoided over 305,000 pounds of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. In 2022, Claire and Katie were featured on the Globe and Mail’s list of 50 Changemakers. Claire is a graduate of MacEwan University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in international business. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Environmental Economics and Management at Thompson Rivers University.
