
Claire Theaker-Brown
Claire Theaker-Brown is the Director and Founder of Unbelts, an apparel manufacturing company that makes sustainable belts. Unbelts takes an ethical production approach that minimizes resource extraction and maximizes worker benefit along the supply chain. They repair belts with their warranty program and divert waste by upcycling elastic offcuts. Claire started Unbelts in her grandmother’s hometown of Shanghai, where she lived after university. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta, where she majored in Industrial Design and minored in Mandarin Chinese. Claire currently lives in Edmonton, Alberta, where she runs one of the company’s sewing studios. She was named one of EDify’s 40 Under 40 in 2022.
