
Aki Kaltenbach
Aki Kaltenbach is leading the plant-based seafood movement intending to effectively regulate harvesting and end overfishing, and illegal, unreported, and unregulated destructive fishing practices. Her company makes vegan seafood options crafted from wholesome plant ingredients which convincingly mimic the taste and texture of real fish. A marketing guru and experienced manager operating her family’s three Japanese restaurants, Kaltenbach spent one year getting onto store shelves by producing numerous iterations to achieve the perfect product. Today, sales have grown from a single store to approximately 50 retailers across B.C. and Alberta, with an aim of 200 stores in the rest of Canada and a U.S. foray in 2022. Aki is the recipient of numerous awards including the 2021 BCFB Innovation Award, Organika Rising Star Award, and the 2021 Douglas Magazine 10 to Watch Winner.
