Sky McLean, who formerly worked for real estate developers, scrimped and saved to finance her own build. She bootstrapped the financing, refinancing her car and renting out her home while living in a camping trailer on the build site with her husband. Her hard work and sacrified have paid off, with Basecamp Resorts being valued over $13 million in 2019. Now she’s building a hospitality empire from the ground up, developing four more Basecamp locations, purchasing and redeveloping two other hotels, and building ten residential townhouses.
