
Tawnya Brant
Tawnya Brant is a chef and owner of YawékonFoods, a restaurant in Ohsweken that provides Haudenosaunee fusion cuisine. She has always had a passion for food and cooking, starting her first job at a local diner at the age of 12 in Ontario’s Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. She gained more experience opening small shops and franchise restaurants throughout Southern Ontario, Western New York, and Manitoulin Island, eventually attending Mohawk College’s Aboriginal Small Business Management program. Tawnya is eager to represent and inspire Indigenous women entrepreneurs and is ready to showcase her wealth of ancestral food knowledge to both the judges and Canada. She was selected as a contestant on Season 10 of Top Chef Canada and is a recipient of the 2021 Ontario Chamber of Commerce Small Business Award.
