WEKH Launches Regional Hub at Impact Hub Ottawa
On June 12, the Diversity Institute at Ryerson University celebrated the launch of WEKH at Impact Hub Ottawa along with Regional Hubs Carleton University and the PARO Centre for Women’s Enterprise.
The Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, and over 150 entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, researchers, service providers, and diversity and inclusion champions gathered from across sectors to shine a spotlight on diverse perspectives in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Through a lively panel discussion, engaging breakout sessions and a lightning talk showcase, guests developed a broader understanding of the challenges and opportunities in making entrepreneurship more inclusive in our region.
Canadian women start more businesses than women in any other country, and yet they continue to face unique barriers as entrepreneurs.
Led by Ryerson University’s Diversity Institute, the Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship and the Ted Rogers School of Management with over 50 partner organizations, the Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (WEKH) is a nation-wide network of researchers, business support organizations, and key stakeholders aiming to reduce barriers and grow women’s entrepreneurship in Canada.
