Alvina Zaidi

Alvina Zaidi is the co-founder and director of Tiny Toes Castle, an Alberta-based daycare centre bringing inclusion and multiculturalism to the forefront. After Red Deer welcomed Alvina, her sister, and mother as Syrian refugees, they demonstrated their gratitude by creating a child-focused space where differences could be celebrated. Alvina created Tiny Toes Castle built on an innovative model that teaches children compassion and empathy, and what it means to be a refugee. Over the years, Alvina has partnered with various agencies in the efforts to reduce barriers by producing diverse programming for both children and employees. In 2019, the family-run daycare was selected for the Diversity Award of Distinction and the Mentorship Award of Distinction.
