Emmie Leung

Emmie Leung got the idea to start collecting recyclable materials when she was walking around her Winnipeg neighbourhood one day. The seemingly small act led to a sequence of high-powered environmental initiatives that eventually sprouted into Emterra Group, a national leader in the waste resources and recycling management industry. Over the past 40 years, Leung has been recognized as a pioneer in the recycling industry known for introducing innovations that have reduced greenhouse emissions and pollution, while drastically transforming the way resources are used in Canada. Today, Emterra Group has more than 1,100 employees and a network of 31 recycling and waste management facilities. In 2016, Leung was named one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network.
