Gail Murphy is a Canadian computer scientist and professor at the University of British Columbia who specializes in software engineering and knowledge worker productivity. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Washington and is the former Chief Scientist at Tasktop Technologies Inc., a company she co-founded. Tasktop provides a platform for organizations to integrate and align their software delivery processes to improve delivery and increase business value. Gail is dedicated to using technology to enhance business processes and has over 25 years of experience in the field. She has served on editorial boards for professional publications and was named Associate Vice President Research pro tem and later Vice-President, Research & Innovation. Tasktop has grown into a respected and innovative company under her leadership. In 2022, she was awarded the Impact Paper Award by SIGSOFT.
