Marcia was active in the local food movement prior to founding FreshSpoke. She noted a market gap in the wholesale food industry, with buyers unable to source traceable, sustainably-grown product from local producers. FreshSpoke is an online marketplace platform that connects wholesale buyers with local food producers. Marcia has addressed distribution challenges for local food producers by outsourcing the process, including facilitating e-commerce transactions and delivery. Marcia’s commitment to sustainability led to an innovative delivery model which leverages excess capacity in commercial delivery, giving drivers that are already on the road the ability to earn extra income delivering local food while reducing cost and carbon.
