Womenswear designer and engineer, Nina Kharey, noticed a problem with the scrubs healthcare professionals were wearing during the pandemic. Having achieved success in the clothing and design sector with her first company, Nonie, which she founded in 2009, Nina decided to create a high-quality competitive product for the healthcare industry. She researched textile technology and developed scrubs that were modern, protective, and eco-friendly. The scrubs were made with recycled fabric and cutting edge nanotechnology to provide antiviral protection, were functional and did not release microplastics. She received positive feedback on the scrubs and started a company named FOLDS with a co-founder to begin offering her product to healthcare professionals, with a mission to provide only the best quality. The company is focused on environmental sustainability, promoting circular economy and recycling. Nina holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Calgary and is an Activator at Coralus.
