Tara Francis

Tara Francis is the founder and artist of IndigenEAST Art Studios, where she displays her artwork and offers consultations, workshops, and designs for her clients. Tara is a Mi’kmaw artist from the Elsipogtog First Nation in New Brunswick. She is a contemporary artist whose work is influenced by traditional techniques and teachings, representing the Indigenous voice in the modern world. She was educated at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design while also learning the traditions of her Indigenous heritage from Elder Gwen Bear. IndigenEAST Art Studio displays the porcupine quillwork that comes from Mi’kmaq art as well as silk paintings and silk scarves. In 2021, IndigenEAST placed as a semi-finalist in the Atlantic Pow Wow Pitch.
