The Immigrant Education Society (TIES) is a not-for-profit charitable organization established in Calgary, in 1988, with a mission to provide immigrants and economically disadvantaged individuals with a solid foothold in Canada and afford them opportunities to grow into productive, confident and contributing Canadians. TIES accomplishes this by providing innovative language education, customized employment training and placement, and integration services based on best practices.
TIES is proposing to create an entrepreneurship development program focused on new immigrant women to provide business development skills, personalized support and mentorship, training on navigating the legal and regulatory maze of business start-ups, access to accounting training, networking and marketing services, to promote their ventures and the opportunity for co-working space to give women business ventures an opportunity to share and develop supportive relationships with like-minded entrepreneurs. The TIES program will address the main gap researched and identified by the organization as a lack of community and cultural awareness and sensitivity towards immigrant women in making new business support solutions more approachable and relatable.
We are actively looking for collaborative partners in other provinces for this WES grant application.
