Hi Anne-Marie! For your social media growth strategy, it’s important to first look at what you are wanting to achieve from social media. For example, what action do you want people to take, what do you want them to feel by looking at your page, what are your goals etc. Then determine what your audience is looking for and how you can be unique + authentic online. I think as a design + visual organization you have an opportunity to REALLY make your IG unique as it is a very visual platform. Take a look at what competitors are doing on there, look at other artists and designers too and see what feels right to you. That’s a good place to start. Then to grow, you have to push people to follow your social media – whether it’s through a newsletter, your website, in person (if possible). Use ways people are currently interacting with you and promote your social channels.
LinkedIn is a bit different, there is real opportunity to grow with Linkedin. But Linkedin is a place for thought leadership, articles, perspective, and expertise. So, showcase your expertise there. Whether that’s through writing about a current exhibit or a design process that you went through and tagging fellow designers. Or asking thought provoking questions in groups. Just bring your unique perspective and expertise to the platform and be sure to tag other people/orgs to help spread reach.
Hope that helps + happy to chat further if you’d like! My email is gaby@fwe.ca :)
