The Agroforestry and Woodlot Extension Society is a non-profit organization based out of Edmonton, Alberta. Our focus is the promotion of sustainable forest management and development of conservation projects with the opportunity to educate and empower diverse communities.

AWES is proposing to create a Women in STEM & Leadership Program focusing on women entrepreneurs working in STEM. The goal of this program is to create an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to come together to build skills and network through workshops, and is designed to cover leadership and technical topics in safe and supportive environments.  This program will decrease barriers women face in the workforce by providing overall support to those working in STEM, and those most likely to be impacted by barriers related to gender, isolation, culture, language, and disability.

We are currently looking for organizations to collaborate with us on a proposal for the WES Ecosystem Fund. Ways that partner organizations can complement this project can include business skills (finance, policy, IT, and governance) as well as technical expertise in STEM fields.
