Canada International Black Women Event named Ampai Thammachack, founder and CEO of Step Above Stigma, as one of the Black Women to Watch in 2022. Step Above Stigma is a charity based in Kingston, Ontario, dedicated to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health for youth and young adults. Since founding the organization in 2016, Ampai has led her team to raise approximately $245,000 and foster partnerships with over 50 organizations, including L’Óreal Paris and Google. Step Above Stigma has 4 chapters across Canada and has recruited over 724 volunteers, with the goal of reaching 1000 by the end of 2023. Ampai is also the co-founder and Co-President of the Glass Slipper Organization, which provides free prom attire to students in Nova Scotia. She holds two degrees from Queen’s University, including a Master of Arts in Geography.
