Autumn Whiteway is a Saulteaux/Métis visual artist, traditional craftworker, and curator based in Calgary, Alberta. She markets her artwork through her business, Oji Creations, which sells pieces like jewelry, craft supplies, and canvas prints. Autumn is also an archaeologist. She earned a Master of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Manitoba. As an archaeologist, she is curious about the material culture of her ancestors, as well as traditional knowledge passed down through generations. She channels this curiosity into her art which consists of Indigenous crafts. Autumn is inspired by artists like Norval Morrisseau and Kent Monkman, and she takes a modern approach to Indigenous themes in her photography and painting. Oji Creations can be found in #BeTheDrum Indigenous Women’s Business Directory.
