Charity Durowaa has a passion for keeping the taste of home alive for diasporic communities in Edmonton. Originally from Ghana, Charity opened Kasoa Tropical Food Market, stocked with products to serve the Afro-Caribbean community. It has grown to become the largest grocery store of it’s kind in Alberta, employing 15 staff. From there, Charity has expanded by opening another location in South Edmonton and by opening another store serving the Filipino and Latin communities. She also opened a beauty store, “Marvelous”, next to her Kasoa South grocery store.
