Dr. Molly Shoichet

Dr. Molly Shoichet is one of Canada’s leading scientists, Ontario’s first Chief Scientist, and the only person ever to be inducted into all three of Canada’s National Academies: the Canadian Academy of Sciences of the Royal Society of Canada, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. She is a co-founder of AmacaThera Technologies, a Toronto-based biotechnology company which grew from research in the Shoichet Lab. AmacaThera’s technology has grown rapidly since 2018, and announced in 2020 that it had received approval from Health Canada to proceed with clinical trials for it’s leading product, a long-acting anesthetic formulation for the treatment of post-surgical pain.
