Elizabeth-Tremblay

Elizabeth Tremblay

Elizabeth Tremblay is a remarkable example of resilience and determination. Elizabeth faced significant barriers to entrepreneurship after exiting the shelter system, including the stigma of being part of the criminal justice system, financial bankruptcy, a lack of formal education, a mental health diagnosis, and chronic pain. Despite these challenges, Elizabeth has made a successful transition to become a leader in the social housing and peer-support field. She is the founder of Mentor/Mentee Canada & Peer House Toronto, organizations that provide mentorship and support within the shelter system. Elizabeth also created a 10-week Peer Support training program for recovery and wellness in employment and housing, and in its first year Mentor/Mentee Canada graduated nine trainees. Elizabeth is on a mission to bring Peer Support training and employment to street encampments, hotel shelters, and supportive housing across Canada. She is the recipient of the 2020 Dr. Paul Garfinkel Resilience Award recognized by Rise Helps.
