Emily Thorn Corthay

Emily Thorn Corthay is a renowned industrial energy efficiency expert and founder & CEO of Thorn Associates, an energy and carbon management consulting firm. Thorn Associates specializes in helping energy managers in the mining, manufacturing, and metals sectors to maximize their energy budgets by reducing energy waste and greenhouse gas emissions, improving health and safety, and building a reputation as environmentally conscious leaders. Emily chairs the Energy Task Force of Ontario Society of Professional Engineers and co-founded StepUp, an organization promoting gender equity in energy management. She has extensive experience in energy audits, energy design, and energy management information systems and has been involved in over 70 industrial energy efficiency projects resulting in over $50 million in energy savings. Emily holds a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering and has been featured on CBC video and Radio Canada. In 2020, she was awarded the International Energy Engineer Award by AEE.
