Evelyn Caroline Basil

Evelyn Caroline Basil is a Ktunaxa jeweler in Grasmere, British Columbia. She runs a business called Tobacco Plains Gifts, where she hand-makes and sells silver jewelry with semi-precious stones. Evelyn turned to jewelry making as a way to cope with an illness that forced her to leave her job. She focuses on creating culturally significant artwork as an Indigenous jeweler, offering items like rings, earrings, and silver-plated necklaces. Evelyn hopes that her business can raise awareness for Indigenous culture and teachings in Canada. Tobacco Plains Gifts can be found in the Native Women’s Association of Canada’s #BeTheDrum Indigenous Women’s Business Directory.
