Leanne Elson is an Inuit artisan and jeweler from southern Labrador. She lives in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where she runs an art business called Rugged Coast Crafts. Her business is listed in the Native Women’s Association of Canada’s #BeTheDrum Indigenous Women’s Business Directory. Leanne’s specialty is making moccasins, mittens, and mukluks. She originally learned how to sew moccasins from her aunt before expanding her practice. Leanne incorporates her Inuit roots and culture into her items, using as many animal parts as possible so that none goes to waste.
