Lesley Assu

Lesley Assu is the owner of Standing Spruce Farm and Apothecary, an Indigenous-owned wellness brand in Campbell River, BC. Lesley is from the Haida First Nation. She was raised in her father’s community of the We We Kai, where she developed deep connections with the land and sea. She founded Standing Spruce Farm and Apothecary to deliver authentic wildcrafted products that are natural, sustainable, and ethically made. The apothecary employs Lesley’s ancestral knowledge of plant medicine, while the farm grows the ingredients that Lesley uses for her skincare products and essential oils. Lesley is one of the only Indigenous farmers in the territory. Her farm follows a zero-waste policy where all botanicals, including honey, are used for the brand’s products. In 2021, Lesley represented Standing Spruce Farm and Apothecary as a semi-finalist in the British Columbia Pow Wow Pitch.
