Margaret Magdesian
After studying the nervous system and realizing that pharmaceutical research is conducted on animals that don’t have the same diseases as humans, Margaret set out to develop a new way to do research directly on human cells. She is the founder and CEO of Ananda Devices which uses nanotechnology to replicate the human nervous system on a microchip in order to make drug research faster and more cost effective. Her “mini brain” technology uses patient-derived cells to conduct human-based research, avoiding animal testing, lowering costs and environmental toxictity by limiting the use of reagent while increasing yields.
