Mariah Battiste is a proud Mi’kmaw woman raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and surrounded by a strong Mi’kmaq community. She is the founder and CEO of Sundaylace Creations Inc., a business that offers contemporary beaded jewelry for weddings, special occasions, or everyday wear. With an eye for beauty and passion for jewelry, Mariah has turned her love of accessories into a successful beaded jewelry business. In 2017, she expanded her business to include bead accessories and supplies, allowing others to create their own beautiful beaded works of art. As a community-minded individual, Mariah shares her knowledge and expertise through workshops, events, and presentations. Mariah holds a Master’s degree in Educational Foundations from the University of Saskatchewan and works as a Reconciliation Consultant with multiple organizations. Named after her maternal grandmother, Annie Battiste, Mariah is dedicated to carrying on her heritage and culture through her business.
