Kassidy Bernard is a graphic designer in Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia. She is the head illustrator of Patuo’kn Illustration and Design, an illustration and design business catered towards Indigenous clients who provide educational materials for learning Indigenous languages, cultures, and practices. Kassidy co-founded the business with her sister Kaylyn in April 2019. Their business name, Patuo’kn, is a Mi’kmaq word for driftwood. Kassidy and Kaylyn chose this name in honour of their grandfather, who used the same name for his business. Kassidy holds a Bachelor of Design from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She is L’nu Two-Spirit from the We’koqma’q First Nation, and she strives to collaborate with businesses that focus on Indigenous solidarity. Patuo’kn Illustration and Design is listed in the Native Women’s Association of Canada’s #BeTheDrum Indigenous Women’s Business Directory.
