Meseret Haileyesus

Meseret Haileyesus is a well-respected advocate for economic justice and health equity. She is a businesswoman, philanthropist, and entrepreneur who has devoted over 16 years of her life to work with various national and international non-profit organizations on a range of issues, including HIV/AIDS prevention, economic empowerment, poverty reduction, public health research, and building community capacity to take action to advance social justice initiatives. She is a founder of the Canadian Centre for Women’s Empowerment and is dedicated to addressing systemic barriers and other challenges that prevent women and girls from fully realizing their human rights. In addition to her social justice and public health involvement, Meseret is also the owner of Nacre Organics, and an advocate with David Suzuki Foundation. She was awarded the 100 Most Accomplished Black Canadian Women 2019, Top 100 Women to Watch in Canada 2020, 2021 Top 10 Forty and 40, amongst many others.
