Ngardy Conteh George is a veteran filmmaker and co-founder of OYA Media Group. An award-winning Black woman led production company based in Toronto. Into her career she came upon the realization that the opportunities she hoped for were not coming her way. This led to Ngardy creating a production company, along with her fellow founder and Alison Duke, where they could executively decide their project’s objectives and create their own independent opportunities. Together they tackle underrepresented and systematically excluded perspectives through their works across all forms of media such as films, television, and virtual reality. She is a two time recipient of the Canadian Screen Award for filmmaking and the founder of OYA Black Arts Coalition, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Black artists, creators, and entrepreneurs within the entertainment sector.
