Rhoda Angutimarik

Nunavut-born Rhoda Angutimarik initially created Arctic Fresh due to the strong burden she felt to address some needs in her community. Since shipping fresh food to the Arctic is costly, the sad result was that many children were missing out on adequate meals and nutrition at home. Her solution? A simplified web-based platform enabling fresh food to be delivered to Nunavut communities at affordable rates. Founded in 2017, the company has since grown to service thirteen communities. In 2019, Arctic Fresh was named Social Enterprise of the Year for Nunavut by Startup Canada. Today, Angutimarik is a leading educator who remains passionate about tackling food insecurity and improving the diets and lives of Canadians in the North.
