Samantha Dixon Slawter

Samantha Dixon Slawter is the owner of Styles by SD, a beauty salon in Dartmouth, NS that has been operating for nearly three decades. She is an advocate for Black beauty services, who has called for cosmetology programs in Nova Scotia and across Canada to include instruction on Black and textured hair so that stylists are able to practice on all members of a community. Noting the lack of services for Black and textured hair in her own community, Samantha, a master hair instructor, hopes to open a private career college to address the lack of access to quality hair care for Black Nova Scotians.
