Tanya Hayles

Tanya Hayles started a Facebook mom meet-up group for Black mothers in 2015, when her attempts to find resources for raising her son had failed. Black Moms Connection (BMC) started with just 12 women in Toronto. Today, it is a thriving global community made up of over 20,000 mothers. Under Hayles’ leadership, BMC remains dedicated to providing culturally relevant programs and resources to equip and empower Black mothers and their families. In 2020, Hayles launched her diversity and inclusion consulting firm, Colour in White Spaces, to continue her work of supporting Black women and diversifying the motherhood and anti-racism education sphere. Most recently, Hayles was selected as a Top 25 Women of Influence winner.
