Angel and Angela didn’t necessarily know that they were starting a business when they first launched Market Collective in 2008. Angel had a vision for a platform to promote local artists, and Angela, an artisan herself, knew there had to be a better way to showcase her wares without losing commission to retailers. More than a decade later, Market Collective is a staple in the Calgary arts and local shopping community, giving thousands of makers an outlet to sell their wares while keeping 100% of their profits. Their series of pop-up and themed markets attract local shoppers while fostering community in Calgary.
