Ashley Lamothe

Ashley Lamothe is an Anishinaabe creative coach and entrepreneur in Nogojiwanong, Ontario. She is the founder and facilitator of Creative Kwe, a business that offers creative workshops on resin, vinyl, and other forms of art. The business’s name comes from “Kwe,” which is the Ojibway word for “woman.” Ashley chose the name to reflect her own identity as an Indigenous woman. She was motivated to start her business after experiencing a significant personal loss, and she has been delivering her workshops since then. Her business attracted news outlets and organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic when she moved her business to an online platform and continued Creative Kwe’s sense of community. Creative Kwe is in the Native Women’s Association of Canada’s #BeTheDrum Indigenous Women’s Business Directory. The organization named Ashley the Entrepreneur of the Month in April 2021, and the same year, she was a semi-finalist in the Ontario Pow Wow Pitch.
