Brittany Forsyth

Brittany Forsyth is a founding partner of Backbone Angels, a venture capital firm that specializes in investing in early stage startups. She is an experienced leader in the tech industry, having spent 11 years at Shopify as Chief Talent Officer. During her tenure at Shopify, Brittany built the company’s Talent Function from scratch, growing the team from 20 people to over 10,000, fostering a culture that allowed employees to thrive, and played a key role in taking the company public. Her investment philosophy is to find and support founders who are insatiably curious, knowledgeable about their areas of exploration, relentless in their pursuit of success, and willing to change and evolve as they learn. Prior to Backbone Angels, she earned her BA from Carleton University and an executive MBA from Harvard Business School. In 2021, Brittany was selected as Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 by Caldwell.
