Christa did not take the conventional path to becoming a chef. Largely self-taught, Christa’s interest in indigenous cooking and ingredients accelerated when she opened an Indigenous holistic licensed family daycare and began developing recipes. She credits the search for indigenous recipes and ingredients with a renewal in her pride, self-worth and understanding of her roots. She opened Feast Café Bistro which features the recipes she developed in her home kitchen. A community-minded chef, Christa regularly supports Winnipeg’s homeless population through donation initiatives of leftover food and “pay it forward” programs. Christa and her recipes have been featured in the media including Canadian Living and the Food Network.
