Dr. Dyhia Belhabib

Dr. Dyhia Belhabib is the Director of Nautical Crimes Investigations Services (NCIS) in Vancouver, British Columbia. NCIS is a start-up that develops artificial intelligence and hardware maritime defense technologies to detect and deter criminal activities at sea. Dr. Belhabib holds a Master of Science in Marine Resources Management from the Université du Québec à Rimouski, and a PhD in Environmental Studies and Resource Management from the University of British Columbia. Her research specializes in maritime criminality, illegal fishing, and food security. She leads a team of researchers at NCIS to research and develop software. She also works as a principal fisheries investigator at Ecotrust Canada. In 2022, Fondation Club Avenir awarded Dr. Belhabib with their annual award for women’s entrepreneurship.
