Elder Mae Louise Campbell

Elder Mae Louise Campbell is one of the three co-founders of Clan Mothers Healing Village and Knowledge Centre in Bélair, Manitoba. She is from the Ojibwa-Saulteaux Metis Nation, and she has taught and supported people from different backgrounds for over 81 years. Clan Mothers provides mid-term to long-term support for women who have been victims of multi-generational trauma, sexual violence, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking. Their treatment models incorporate Indigenous methodologies and knowledge, primarily referring to the Indigenous matrilineal model of healing. Prior to Clan Mothers, Elder Mae Louise was the Lodge Keeper of Grandmother Moon Lodge, an Indigenous women’s land-based healing and educational village. She is also a Wisdom Keeper on the Kookum Kaa Na Da Maa Waad Abinoojiiak Council: Grandmothers Protecting our Children (also known as the Grandmothers Council of Manitoba).
