Eruoma Awashish

From the Atikamekw Nation, Eruoma Awashish is the Founder and Artist of Awa Rebel, a clothing company that aims to educate people about her Indigenous culture. Identifying as both Atikamekw and Québécoise, her dual cultural ties enable her to create spaces and dialogues between these two peoples through her artwork. Eruoma holds a Bachelor of Arts – Interdisciplinary Arts from the University of Quebec, and was presented with an award in the ARTIST category at the Quebec Aboriginal Tourism gala in 2015. Looking to the future, Eruoma aspires to establish a factory in Opitciwan, where she will employ local seamstresses to make Awa Rebel’s t-shirts.
