Jeanny Buan

Jeanny is the Owner and Creative Director of the first Filipino-Indigenous fashion brand in Western Canada, Viahera. Viahera pays women living in the Philippines to make handbags and accessories from sustainable and recycled materials, which are then sold around the world. A third of the revenue generated covers the workers’ wages and benefits. Jeanny won Mrs. Canada Worldwide and was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year in an International Pageant for her work geared toward empowering women through livelihood, and youth through education. She has also been named to CBC Saskatchewan’s Future 40 under 40, and received the YWCA’s Women of Distinction Award for Entrepreneurship.
