Jennifer Maryl opened Cakes by Design in 2004, first operating out of rented space in a Montessori School. Thanks to the constraints of it’s early space, Cakes by Design is a peanut-free bakery which is popular amongst families with allergies. Jennifer also thanks her early start for her success – having opened before many other boutique cake shops, she was able to successfully corner the Barrie market.
