Joelle Faulkner, Area One Farms’ founder & CEO, is a multi-generation Canadian farmer. With a background in investment banking and private equity, Joelle founded Area One Farms as a result of her own farming family’s experience. An opportunity came up for her family to purchase a neighbouring property and expand their operation, but they were hesitant to take on new debt with a financial institution. Inspired by her experience – in farming and finance – Joelle founded Area One Farms to bring a new agricultural financing solution to the market. She leads the only private equity firm in Canada to invest in farmland with operators.
