Marija Pavkovic-Tovissi

The daughter of immigrants from the former Yugoslavia, Marija Pavkovic-Tovissi saw her father’s experience trying to seek employment with foreign credentials. Now Marija is the owner and CEO of MaKami College. Catering to mainly new Canadians seeking useful employment-streaming education and training, Marija opened MaKami in 2001 with a class of eight students, offering one 1,000-hour massage therapy course. She has since expanded to offer a two-year, 3,000-hour advanced clinical massage therapy diploma program. Marija also opened an independent equipment wholesaler and boutique insurance company after struggling to find suitable suppliers for MaKami. Marija has been recognized many times for her business acumen.
