Micheline Khan

Micheline Khan is an inspiring mental health advocate who is dedicated to closing the gap of unequal access to culturally sensitive mental health support for racialized communities. In 2020, she founded Althea Therapy, an app that connects clients with therapists from their communities to reduce racial mental health disparities. Her goal is to normalize therapy within all communities and reduce distrust of the medical system that has been historically oppressive toward people of color. Through Althea Therapy, users can access mood journals, clinical definitions, a peer-support forum, and resources to support their mental health journey. Micheline’s work is driven by her own experiences with discrimination and harassment. She hopes that Althea Therapy will help to create a safe space for individuals to be vulnerable and build trust with their therapist, resulting in a lower dropout rate for therapy.
