As a single mother facing poverty, Renee Delaney could not have known that growing an heirloom tomato one day would plant a seed to a much bigger vision. Four years later, that seed has blossomed into Small Scale Farms, a social enterprise that currently provides healthy, home-cooked meals to an estimated 30 volunteers – and hundreds more who can’t afford it – per week. Through Delaney’s latest collaboration initiative called Feed a Family, meals are widely distributed through churches, schools, food banks and various other channels. Today, Delaney remains a tireless outreach leader who is sowing seeds of change within the community by continuously raising innovative solutions to food insecurity, agriculture development and poverty.
