An entrepreneur for more than 25 years, Senator Amina Gerba was appointed Independent Senator for Quebec in 2021.  In 1995, she created her own consulting group, Afrique Expansion Inc., to build bridges between Canada and Africa and to promote business opportunities. She also co-founded two companies manufacturing hair and body care products. She is the founder of the non-profit organization, Forum Afrique Expansion, which has become the most important Canadian meeting platform for business partnerships between African and Canadian decision makers.

An African Canadian entrepreneur, Ms. Gerba is the Founder and CEO of Forum Afrique Expansion. She is also the driving force behind the natural hair and body care products, KARIDERM® and KARILISS®. She was appointed Knight of the Ordre national du Québec in 2014 and named one of Quebec’s 25 most influential women by the Journal les Affaires in 2008. Since 2018, Ms. Gerba has been President of the Board of Directors of Entreprendre Ici, an organization created by the Quebec government to guide and support entrepreneurs from ethnocultural diversity. A member of the International Women’s Forum, Ms. Gerba serves on several boards of directors. She was invited by the U.S. State Department to the highly selective International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP 2013). She holds an MBA from ESG UQAM.
