Eyra Abraham

Eyra Abraham is the founder of Lisnen, a sound identification app for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. Eyra started her company in 2017 based on her own experience with disability. In an interview with The Globe and Mail, she referred to an instance with a fire drill, which she did not register because she is hard of hearing. This experience motivated her to develop her app using her Bachelor of Computer Science from McGill University. Since then, Eyra has become an emerging leader in developing accessible technology. She has been named among the Top 100 Black Women to Watch by Canada International Black Women Excellence, she is a member of Accessibility Standards Canada Technical Committee, and Women of Influence Precognized her as one of 25 Women to Watch: Succeeding in a COVID World in 2020.
