Kelsey Coutts is the co-founder of Bangin’ Bannock, a company that makes DIY bannock mixes. Kelsey and her co-founder Destiny Hoostie call their product the “pancake mix of bannock” for their quick and simple recipes. Kelsey comes from Nak’azdli ancestry on her father’s side, and she was raised on Vancouver Island. She co-founded Bangin’ Bannock as a way to connect with her Indigenous roots, connect with other people, strengthen culture, and spark conversations. She met Destiny through the BC Indigenous Youth 3C Challenge, an initiative for aspiring Indigenous entrepreneurs. Now, Bangin’ Bannock delivers dry bannock mixes with different recipes, and they package their products in sustainable, eco-friendly packaging. In 2021, her business was a semi-finalist in the British Columbia Pow Wow Pitch.
